The Czech University of Life Sciences Prague ranked 31st in the world in terms of green policies and sustainability, being the most ecological university of the participating universities from the Czech Republic.
University of Hradec Kralove ranked 314th, University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences Brno also made the top 400. University of Pardubice came 544th, Tomas Bata University ended on the 730th place. Other Czech universities did not participate in the project and were not ranked.
The UI GreenMetric World University Ranking is an initiative of Universitas Indonesia which is being launched in 2010. Participating universities are ranked based on numeric data on various criteria which they provided that can give a picture of their commitment to the greening of their campus and putting in place environmentally friendly policies that support sustainability.
The criteria include baseline information such as the size of the university, both spatially and in terms of population, the campus location and the amount of green space; and also information on energy use, transport, water use and recycling and waste treatment. In addition, the criteria also include efforts being made by the institution towards establishing green policies and management.
The top 10 most sustainable universities in the world in 2019 were Wageninen University & Research, University of Oxford, University of California Davis, University of Nottingham, Nottingham Trent University, Unwelt-campus Birkenfeld, Leiden University, University of Groningen, University College Cork, and Bangor University.
