After retiring from racing, Jarrett transitioned to a broadcasting career. He joined ESPN/ABC's sports commentary team in 2007 and later moved to NBC Sports in 2015.

One of his children, Jason Jarrett, is a former driver, and another, Zach Jarrett, is a professional baseball outfielder. His brother-in-law, Jimmy Makar, is a former crew chief.

Jarrett has also dabbled in business, co-owning a Busch Series team with former NFL quarterback Brett Favre and a fantasy sports site. Additionally, he is an avid golfer, maintaining a 2 handicap.
