Police revealed that she was being held against her will and used as a sex slave by 41-year-old Chris Schroeder, who is facing both federal and state charges.

According to the FBI's criminal complaint, Schroeder and Lexi met on the social media app Kik and the teenager said she was unhappy at home.

Daily Mail reported that Schroeder filmed himself engaging in intercourse with her.

He also told her she was to clean for him and needed to lose weight and change her physical appearance.

He also destroyed her cell phone and SIM card.

Authorities found two video cameras recording the bed in the room Lexi was staying in, and upon reviewing the videos found one of the pair having sexual intercourse.

Lexi said she wanted to go home and Schroeder refused to allow this. She said she was afraid of him because he had so many guns.

Lexi went to walk her family's dog around 7:30pm on Sunday November 8 and just ten minutes later her stepsister walked inside to say the dog was wandering around in front of the house and Lexi was nowhere to be found.

Lexi's mother Linda Chalfant and stepfather Britton Ramsey said finding out Lexi was safe was the happiest day of their life.

Lexi's mother also thanked all the volunteers who helped in the search for her daughter.
