The Voice just announced the coaches for season 17. And it’s great news! All your favorite coaches from this season will be back! Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, and John Legend are returning to turn their chairs for hopeful singers again.
Here is the announcement from The Voice‘s Instagram.
The dynamic between the coaches this season has been so fun to watch. And clearly the producers agree! We already loved Kelly Clarkson, who has been massively successful the past two seasons, but John Legend also brings a great new vibe. He got a number of four-chair turns on his team this season and was blocked by every other coach. Clearly he is a threat to the other coaches! With an EGOT, why wouldn’t he be? He also has a chance to win this season with Maelyn Jarmon and Shawn Sounds.
But looking forward, hopefully next season we’ll return to the team quotas of past seasons. I would love to see Adam, Blake, Kelly, and John all compete with their diverse contestants. This season, we’ve lost out on a lot of that diversity in favor of white male country artists. Even Kelly’s last remaining artist fits that description! Obviously she’s qualified to coach country singers, but the domination of one type of singer is a bit much. But if that’s what America wants, that’s what they got.
Can you imagine a season where Kelly is coaching an up-and-coming pop star, John is working with an R&B/soul singer, Blake has some country male and female singers, and Adam works with a rocker? It would be the dream! Since that didn’t happen this season, now we know there’s always next season! This lineup of coaches is already one of the best in The Voice history. There is truly no weak link in the big red chairs this season.
Season 17 of The Voice will air this fall. While the premiere date has not been announced yet, it’s usually in early to mid-September. Stay tuned here for all the most recent news!
